The 'Physikalisches Institut'

The LHCb group resides in the Physikalisches Institut (PI) of the Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg. Our post address is:

Where to find things

offices

Most offices of the LHCb group are located in the third floor of the PI, facing west (towards the KIP) or facing east (towards the CAM). Exceptions are the officies of the two proffessors, Stephanie Hansmann-Menzemer and Ulrich Uwer, facing the north side of the building.

kitchen and coffe table

The kitchen is located on the north side (Room 03.108) near the elevator and the top of the large stairs. It is equipped with a stove with two plates, a fridge, a dish-washer, a microwave and a coffeemachine.

seminar rooms

The following seminar rooms in the PI are used by the LHCb group:

Our weekly group meeting takes place in the seminar room on the third floor.

labs

The laboratories of the LHCb group are located towards the yard on both the west and east wing of the building.

A small workshop to individually perform small mechanial tasks is available in room 03.417. NOTE: It is mandatory to get a proper introduction to the workshop. Please consult Sebastian Bachmann for further information and the usage of the workshop on the third floor.


Weekly meeting

The LHCb group has a weekly meeting every Monday at 2:00pm.

Some general rules about the meeting:

  • every (BSc/MSc/PhD-)student should present their research at least once per quarter year
  • new members should be introduced to the group by their supervisors
  • potential LHCb-internal paper review tasks should be discussed every week
