%Dedicated to my aunt, who passed away in November 2015.
First and foremost I would like to express my gratitude to my supervisor, Prof. Stephanie Hansmann-Menzemer. She gave me the chance to start my PhD in the \lhcb group in Heidelberg. Her feedback always helped me grow both as a scientist and as a person. I am indebted for being given the freedom to participate in all kinds of workshops, summer schools, conferences and projects. She also supported me in my application to the RTG 'Beyond the Standard Model'. Sincere thanks also go to Prof Ulrich Uwer for his useful advice, especially during our weekly seminars.

I am also most grateful to the members of the thesis committee, Prof. J\"{o}rg J\"{a}ckel, Prof. Joao Seco and foremost to Prof. Klaus Reygers who kindly agreed to be the second referee for this thesis.

I would like to thank Dr. David Gerick, Dr. Martino Borsato and Dr. Michel De Cian. Without them, this thesis would not be possible. I am very grateful for our fruitfull discussions and for the patience Michel and Martino had with me.

My sincere thanks go to Dr. Flavio Archilli for his help with the tracking efficiencies and for teaching me a lot of Italian.

I would also like to thank to all the (ex-)members of the \lhcb group in Heidelberg for creating an enjoyable working atmosphere and feeding me with cakes. Special thanks go to our secretaries Diana Horneck and Claudia Wallenwein, who somehow always managed to solve any of my problems with a big smile. Furthermore, I would like to thank the members of the \lhcb collaboration, especially to my colleagues from the \runI and \runII performance WG and from the Rare Decays WG, who encouraged me and continuously helped me improve the quality of my work.

I must also acknowledge my friends all around the world for stimulating discussions, endless encouragement on both professional and personal level, for their immense inspiration, and for their occasional language help. I would like to especially thank Jana and Alex for sharing the best memes with me. %and for destroying the patriarchy!!!

Finally, I would also like to thank my family and my partner for their constant invaluable support during my PhD studies.
